Payson Kickoff to Christmas event to be held Sunday nght in Payson South Park
PAYSON, Ill. —The Village of Payson has announced that the fourth annual Payson Kickoff to Christmas, is set to take place this year at 5 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 8, in Payson South Park. This holiday event promises an evening filled with activities, entertainment and traditions.
Santa will arrive at the park at 5 p.m., and the park’s holiday lights will be illuminated immediately upon his arrival. Following the lighting ceremony, children can participate in a variety of fun activities such as:
- Reindeer games hosted by the Payson FFA and ag programs.
- Christmas arts and crafts brought by Bingaman Automotive.
- Visits with Santa supported by Payson Fall Creek Fire and Rescue.
- Gifts for children provided by Twaddle Plumbing.
In a press release, town trustee Kyle Beckman said, “Our community looks forward to this special event every year. It’s a wonderful way to come together, celebrate the season and create lasting memories for families. We’re thrilled with the continued growth of this community tradition.”
Payson Old Settlers Association will sell soup and treats, while Willie’s Bean Co. will be on-site, selling coffee and Lotus drinks.
This year’s event partners and sponsors are Bingaman Automotive, Payson Old Settlers Association, Payson Seymour School programs and the Payson Fall Creek Volunteer Fire Department, along with other community volunteers and businesses.
Admission is free and open to the public. In the event of inclement weather, the park will be lit as planned and followed by visits with Santa at the Town Hall.
The Village of Payson announced the return of the town-wide Christmas decorating contest where the best-decorated homes are awarded a cash prize. “The Griswold Award,” voted on by the town board members, is awarded to the top home and receives a $50 prize. “The McAllister Award” is voted on through the Village of Payson Facebook page and receives $25.
