PITTSFIELD, Ill. — The truck driver training program at John Wood Community College will host an information session at the Southeast Education Center beginning at 6 p.m. on Monday, March 27. The SEC is at 39637 260th Ave., two miles north of Pittsfield on Route 54.

The session is free and open to the public.

Representatives will share how the program has revised its training in response to the new federal regulations regarding obtaining a commercial driver’s license. Admission requirements, funding options and career opportunities in the trucking industry will be discussed. Students can receive both online and behind-the-wheel training at the SEC. A six-week non-financial aid eligible program is scheduled to begin April 24. Classes meet Monday through Thursday, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

The program uses industry-standard equipment as teaching tools. Class A CDL drivers are in unprecedented demand. Some employers may fund tuition costs.
