Pittsfield man charged with involuntary manslaughter in Jan. 21 death of Pittsfield teenager
PITTSFIELD, Ill. — A Pittsfield man has been charged with involuntary manslaughter in the death of a Pittsfield teenager.
Officers with the Pittsfield Police Department received a report of a missing juvenile at 7:03 a.m. on Jan. 21. The missing person was identified as Landon Hettinger, 17, of Pittsfield.
At approximately 9:01 a.m., Pittsfield Police officers and the Pike County sheriff/coroner were dispatched to Illini Community Hospital for a report of a deceased male juvenile who was identified as Hettinger.
The Pike County sheriff/coroner and the Pittsfield Police Department conducted a joint investigation into the circumstances surrounding the death. As a result of the investigation, Pike County State’s Attorney Walker Filbert has charged Dennis Shannon, 45, of Pittsfield with felony contributing to the criminal delinquency of a minor, felony giving/selling alcohol to a minor resulting in death and involuntary manslaughter.
Shannon is on pre-trial release for these offenses.
