QUINCY — Quincy Notre Dame held a “Canstruction” all-school event Nov. 9 in the QND gymnasium.

QND students, staff and families collected more than 8,600 non-perishable food items during its annual food drive, sponsored by the QND Kindness Club. Students used the donated food items to build a structure in a 30-minute time frame on the gym floor. Each of the 16 QND student houses created a structure in hopes of winning the contest to earn points for their respective houses.

Guest judges Kevin Williams of Quincy Catholic Charities, Jared Allensworth and Curt Wavering scored the structures based on ingenuity, attention to detail and first impression.

Upon completion of the project, the food items were donated to Quincy Catholic Charities.
