QPS Foundation plans 11th annual Dream Big in Color 5K Fun Run on April 20

QUINCY — The 11th annual Dream Big in Color 5K Fun Run begins at 9 a.m. on Saturday, April 20, starting at Quincy High School. All proceeds raised from this event benefit programs within the Quincy Public Schools.

The Dream Big in Color 5K Fun Run invites participants of all ages and fitness levels to lace up their running shoes. The race begins at Quincy High School, then heads down Main Street where it runs through the historic east end neighborhood before ending back at the high school.

In a press release, Racheal Raleigh, events manager for the Quincy Public Schools Foundation, said, “We are thrilled to bring the Quincy community together for a day of active enjoyment while supporting our local educational initiatives. The 5K Color Run is a fantastic way to promote physical activity, camaraderie, and, most importantly, contribute to the enhancement of educational programs that benefit our students.”

The QPS Foundation partners with the QHS leadership class to host the event. QHS leadership students have the opportunity for real-world learning experiences. The leadership class is taking an active role in securing sponsorships, marketing the event and volunteering at the event.

Registration for the run is available online through the QPS Foundation’s website, qpsfoundation.org. Early-bird registration runs through Friday, April 5. Registration includes a T-shirt. Early bird pricing is $30/adult, and $15/child, with a 40 percent discount when groups of four or more register at the same time. Children under age 3 are free. After early bird pricing ends, ticket prices go up to $40/adult and $20/child.

“The 40 percent discount replaces the family pricing this year as a way to make the registration process slightly less confusing,” Raleigh said. “When you register four or more people, the group pricing will be automatically applied to your total.”
