Quincy Area Chamber of Commerce accepting nominations for agriculture awards

QUINCY — The Quincy Area Chamber of Commerce recently announced that nominations are open for the Agribusiness of the Year award and the Larry Fischer Ag Educator of the Year award. The deadline for submissions is 5 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 6. Winners will be honored at the annual ag banquet on Tuesday, March 11.

These awards recognize excellence in the agricultural industry and education while building awareness of agriculture’s vital role in the Quincy area.

In a press release, Bruce Guthrie, president/CEO of the Quincy Area Chamber of Commerce, said, “Our Ag Business and Ag Educator of the Year awards celebrate not only individual achievement but also the collective spirit of an industry that touches every aspect of our lives. These honorees represent the heart of our community and the future of our region.”

Agribusiness of the Year Award

This award is open to businesses of any size within a 50-mile radius of Quincy that demonstrates:

  • Strong ties to the agricultural community
  • A record of community involvement
  • Excellent customer service
  • Use of modern business practices

Membership in the chamber is not required to be eligible.

Larry Fischer Ag Educator of the Year Award

This award recognizes an outstanding educator within a 50-mile radius of Quincy who has:

  • Strong connections to the agricultural community
  • Made a significant impact in the classroom and beyond
  • Inspired students through innovative teaching and outreach efforts

Eligible nominees are current or past high school and college teachers, ag literacy educators and professionals who work directly with producers. Nominations should highlight the educator’s work and its effect on students and the community.
