QUINCY — The Quincy Public Schools Foundation recently welcomed three new trustees to its governing board.

Erin Knapheide, Lucy Bordewick and Jason Finney were unanimously approved to join the board in a vote by other trustees during the foundation’s annual meeting.  Their three-year terms began in July.

Knapheide is a 1997 graduate from QHS and attended the University of Kansas, majoring in communication studies and political science. She previously worked in Kansas City and moved home to Quincy in 2005.

Bordewick, a native of Quincy, returned to her hometown in 2011 from St. Louis. Bordewick earned her degree in communication and international studies from Saint Louis University. After working in fundraising, marketing and communication in St. Louis and Quincy, Lucy founded Digital Thread Inc., a communication and marketing firm, in 2020.

Finney is a 2000 graduate of QHS and attended Western Illinois University, majoring in general education with a minor in computer science and law enforcement and justice administration. Finney has held several positions in the community centered around public service. He previously served as alderman of the Third Ward. He is employed with the State of Illinois at the Department of Human Resources as a staff development specialist.

In a press release, QPSF president Lindsay Ertel said, “We are excited to have these three join us on the board at the Quincy Public Schools Foundation. They are bringing a range of experience and knowledge that will add so much to our governance. I am certain the QPS Foundation will continue to grow and flourish with their leadership and guidance.”

The new trustees’ terms run to June 2027. The trustees will be eligible to run for consecutive terms if they choose. QPSF typically votes new trustees to the board during its annual meeting in June. Two trustees also stepped off the QPSF Board during the recent annual meeting. George Crickard III had served QPSF since 2001, and Rachel Hansen had served since 2014. Both Crickard and Hansen served as president of the board during their time on the board of QPSF.

“It has been an honor to serve as a trustee of the Quincy Public Schools Foundation,” Hansen said. “I trust fully in the current leadership of both the Board of Trustees and administration of the foundation, and look forward to the wonderful things I know they will achieve for all the students of Quincy Public Schools.”

“I am proud to have served my alma mater for 24 years as a trustee for the QPS Foundation,” Crickard said. “We have come a long way in those years. The impact the foundation has made toward enhancing education in Quincy is immeasurable. The organization is in great hands to continue on its mission.”
