Ruffin named director of Tri-State Area Center for Women’s Ministries

QUINCY — Carol Ruffin has been named the new director of the Tri-State Area Center for Women’s Ministries. Ruffin is taking over the responsibilities of Lynette Schenk, the director for the past five years. Ruffin has been involved in the center from its beginning, most recently serving as the assistant director.

Ruffin, a long-time resident of Quincy, graduated from the medical assistant program at Robert Morris College and also attended John Wood Community College majoring in communication.

Tri-State Area Center for Women’s Ministries is a non-profit inter-denominational peer counseling ministry for women and girls (ages 18 and up) which helps women focus on emotional, mental and spiritual wellness. The center provides confidentiality in a non-judgmental atmosphere, making it a safe place to begin to deal with hurts. Counseling services are offered at no charge.

Services offered include:

  • One-on-one peer counseling with a trained counseling volunteer
  • Support Groups for women with like needs or interests to share the journey toward emotional well-being.
  • Study Groups which offer selected topics on a weekly or monthly basis for personal and spiritual growth and development.
  • Workshops
  • Prayer support
