Terry Anastas Tour de Quincy ride Saturday to benefit development of Bill Klingner Trail

Terry Anastas ride

QUINCY — Friends of the Trails will host its annual fundraising bicycle ride, the Terry Anastas Tour de Quincy, on Saturday, July 13, throughout the city of Quincy, starting at The Dock, 1021 Bonansinga Drive.

The Tour de Quincy is a family friendly fundraising recreational bike ride named in honor of Anastas, a longtime Friends of the Trails board member and supporter of trail development. The goal of this year’s event is to raise $24,000 in 2024, with all proceeds going toward Phase Five of the Bill Klingner Trail.

The event features bicycle routes suitable for all ages and skill levels:

  • 7-mile family ride: Ideal for varied skill levels, this ride is on a dedicated bike path and the Bill Klingner Trail.
  • 12-mile Tour de Quincy: A poker run route stopping at five local bars (Instant Replay, Tangerine Bowl, Harrison Pub, The Scoreboard and The Dock.) Participants who stop at all five bars receive a poker hand at the end of the ride. The highest two hands will win prizes including $200 in cash for first with second place receiving a cooler from the Rinella Co. Bicycles, motorcycles or personal vehicles are permitted.
  • 30-mile Tour de Quincy: Another poker run route with the same local bars but an extended ride.
  • Tricycle races: Hosted by Quincy Children’s Museum, this event is free and open for kids and adults alike. Tricycles will be provided, but participants may bring their own. Registration will be held on-site for this event.

An after-party will be held at the Dock with refreshments, a free BBQ lunch for all participants and spectators, live music from the band “Travel Maker” from noon to 3 p.m. and a 50/50 raffle.

Registration is $25 per participant. A $50 family registration is available for the seven-mile ride only. Tricycle races are free. Each participant receives a free event shirt with registration. Advance registration is available online or at The Dock on the day of the event.
