Tri-State Area Center for Women’s Ministries moves to new location on Eighth Street
QUINCY — The Tri-State Area Center for Women’s Ministries has moved to a new location — across the street to 525 S. Eighth.
The Tri-State Area Center for Women’s Ministries offers intervention with a spiritual emphasis, reaching hurting women through ministry. Counseling is available for women 13 and older who live in the tri-state area. Volunteer counselors have received 42 hours of training by the national staff to become peer counselors. These counselors are caring partners who serve as peer counseling volunteers, Bible study leaders, support group facilitators and prayer group leaders.
Women who need comfort and encouragement will find a safe place, at no cost, with non-judgmental listening and support. Some of the areas of ministry are abuse, death of a loved one, depression, divorce, incarceration, parenting, relationships, singleness and woundedness from childhood.
The Center for Women’s Ministries was founded in 1989 in Bloomington, Ind. The ministry has grown to include 24 centers in the United States. Centers are in the countries of Uganda, Sierra Leone, Rwanda, Panama, Nigeria and China. A total of 582 volunteers have given more than 67,454 hours for program activities in the centers.
Center hours are Tuesdays from 9 a.m. to noon and Thursdays from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Hours will be expanded as the need arises. Phone 217-440-8200 or email tristatecwm@gmail.com to schedule a counseling appointment, volunteer or donate.
The ministry is funded solely by donations. Donations can also be made by mail or by Zelle.
