Tri-State Warrior Run/Walk on Oct. 29 at Illinois Veterans Home to benefit area veterans

QUINCY — The Tri-State Warrior Run/Walk will be held Sunday, Oct. 29 at the Illinois Veterans Home. This family event benefits the Tri-State Warrior Outreach, which supports unmet needs of area veterans and their families. Line-up will begin at 7:45, and the races will begin at 8 a.m.

The one-mile walk, 5K, 10K and half marathon will start and end on the historic grounds of Illinois Veterans Home. The 5K, 10K and half marathon will challenge runners along hills through Sunset Cemetery and the Medal of Honor Memorial, then to the end of the Cedar Creek Trail before looping back around the Veterans Home. Traditional dog tag-style medals are given to all event finishers.

Also offered are virtual options for the 5K, 10K and half marathon. Virtual submissions may begin at 6 a.m. through 11:30 p.m. on Sept. 29 for those unable to make it on race day.

All runners (virtual runners also) registered by Friday, Oct. 20, will receive a shirt and medal. Online registration ends at midnight on Thursday, Oct. 26. Packet pickup and late registration will be Saturday, Oct. 28, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Running Wild, 3502 Broadway. There will be no registration on race day, but remaining packets can be picked up in the Illinois Veterans Home shelter house beginning at 7:15 a.m.

Registration fees are:

• One mile walk-$20 veterans, $25 non-veterans
• 5K run-$30 veterans, $35 non-veterans
