Unity High School Class of 1956 holds 68-year reunion luncheon at Sprout’s
MENDON, Ill. — The Unity High School Class of 1956 held its annual meeting at Sprout’s Inn on Oct. 12. Of the 30 classmates still living, 13 attended the meeting. This core group of 13 has been meeting yearly since their 50-year reunion in 2006.
The 50-year reunion, held at a barn south of Bowen owned by class member Hank Dierker, was a three-day celebration. Decorations at the meeting at Sprout’s, provided by Juliann Orr, were gourds and small floral arrangements with rose buds from Orr’s garden.
Three members of the class died in the last year: Helen Wemhoner Harms, Carol Brink Laeding and Rich “Dick” Mooore.
Next year’s meeting will be held on Oct. 11.
