QUINCY — Land management can feel overwhelming, especially when landowners aren’t sure where to begin.

With so many topics to consider, it’s easy to feel stuck. The Your Land, Your Legacy workshop series is designed to break down complex topics into manageable, practical steps. This series helps landowners build confidence and skills to care for their land.

The next workshop in the series, “Get to Know Your Woods,” will be held from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, July 16, at the Adams County Extension Office, 330 S. 36th.

Two registration options are available: dinner and program or program only. Dinner will be served at 5 p.m., and the program will begin promptly at 5:30 p.m.

This workshop is designed for landowners who want to better understand their forested property and make informed decisions about its care. This session will help landowners:

  • Set meaningful land management goals
  • Use maps and site data to understand your property
  • Learn what site characteristics are, and why they matter
  • Gain an understanding of forest measurement techniques like point sampling and tree diversity assessments
  • Explore practical land care strategies, including timber stand improvement, invasive species control and pruning

Led by forestry and land management experts, this workshop blends advice with hands-on learning. Participants will leave with the knowledge and confidence to care for their woods and preserve them for generations to come. Participants will be invited to a follow-up forestry walk this fall.

Registration is required. For more information or to sign up, visit go.illinois.edu/Your-Woods.
