Zombie 5K run on Saturday at Bob Mays Park to benefit QUANADA

QUINCY — The Gem City Doves No. 27 are sponsoring a zombie 5k run on Saturday, Oct. 19, at Bob Mays Park. Registration opens at 10 a.m., with the race lasting from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

Participants can walk, run, creep or crawl to the finish line as they dodge the zombie volunteers. The run will offer a best costume contest for both adults and children, with prizes awarded to the winners. T-shirts designed by Gem City Doves founding member Ali Schmitt of Schmitt Happens Designs are available for $13.

Cost to enter is $25 for adults and $12 for youth. A family price of $55 is available. To register, visit quincyzombies.eventbrite.com. A portion of the proceeds will be donated to QUANADA.

Gem City Doves No. 27 is a new lodge officiated with the Rebekahs, an international service-oriented organization and branch of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows. The mission is to live peacefully, improve the community, do good unto all and uphold the golden rule.
