Hannibal Aquatic Center to offer mermaid and shark school for youths age 6 and up

HANNIBAL, Mo. — The Hannibal Aquatic Center will offer Mermaid and Shark School for youths age 6 and older Aug. 1-5 at the aquatic center. This class allows youngsters to use their imagination while learning special swimming skills. The class will meet from 10:30-11:15 a.m. each day.

Participants must have a FinFun brand mermaid tail or shark fin for the class. The cost for the class is $50 if a participant provides his/her own FinFun mermaid tail or shark fin. The class cost is $115 if an person buys the mermaid tail or shark fin through the Hannibal Parks and Recreation Department. The deadline to purchase a tail or fin is July 15.

Hannibal Aquatic Center director Jenna McDonald expects the class to fill up quickly with only 10 spots per class.

McDonald has a checklist of requirements each swimmer must complete before taking the class. The checklist is available at signup. Signup is available at Hannibal City Hall, 320 Broadway.
