Adult psychiatrist joins team at Hannibal Regional

HANNIBAL, Mo. — Hannibal Regional recently welcomed adult psychiatrist Dr. John Flo to its team.
Dr. Flo earned his medical degree from Saint Louis University School of Medicine and completed his residency at the Saint Louis University Department of Psychiatry.
Dr. Flo blends science and empathy to help people navigate their mental health journeys. Psychiatrists are medical doctors who can order and perform various medical and psychological tests. These tests, combined with discussions about symptoms, medical history and family background, allow psychiatrists to diagnose mental health conditions.
In a press release, Dr. Flo said, “I am interested in human flourishing. The practice of psychiatry enables me to study pathologies of the body and mind that interfere with health. My hope is that by understanding these pathologies and using holistic, evidence-based treatments, patients will achieve health and be enabled to flourish.”
When asked why he chose to join Hannibal Regional, Dr. Flo said, “The milestones that Hannibal Regional has achieved despite the challenges of the past few years, such as COVID, have been impressive and inspiring. It is an honor to join the mission, and I look forward to providing excellent mental health treatment that lives up to the high standard of medical care at Hannibal Regional.”
Dr. Flo emphasizes using evidence-based medicine and holistic treatment plans to best fit the needs of each patient.
“My first priority with patients is taking time to have respectful and honest conversations that foster accurate diagnoses. The next priority is patient education regarding holistic, evidence-based treatments,” he said.
