C-SC faculty member named to Council on Foreign Relations’ Higher Education Ambassador Program
CANTON, Mo. — Culver-Stockton College’s Chad DeWaard, professor of political science and chair of the college’s Department of Civic Engagement and Leadership, recently was named to the Higher Education Ambassador Program by the Council on Foreign Relations (CFR).
DeWaard will help improve the CFR’s educational resources and methods, find new opportunities for students to engage with global affairs and be certified as an official CFR ambassador.
“We are immensely proud of his appointment to this program,” C-SC president Lauren Schellenberger said in a press release. “His selection is a testament to his expertise in political science and his dedication to enhancing student civic engagement. We are confident his involvement with CFR will bring valuable insights to The Hill and connect our students with a broader community of citizens and professionals.”

DeWaard joined the Culver-Stockton faculty in 2010. He has served as associate chair of the Applied Liberal Arts and Sciences division, chair of the Social and Behavioral Sciences division and now is chair of Civic Engagement and Leadership.
“I am honored to join the Council on Foreign Relations’ Higher Education Ambassador Program,” DeWaard said. “This role presents an exciting opportunity to collaborate with esteemed colleagues and contribute to vital discussions on international policies and global challenges. I look forward to leveraging this platform to advance our understanding of complex global issues and to further the mission of civic engagement.”
