C-SC professor appointed to Society of Experiential Education board of directors
CANTON, Mo. — Dell Ann Janney, professor of accounting at Culver-Stockton College, was appointed to the board of directors for the Society for Experiential Education (SEE), formerly the National Society for Experiential Education, at the September 2024 board meeting.
Founded in 1971, SEE is a nonprofit membership organization composed of a community of researchers, practitioners and thought leaders committed to the establishment of effective methods of experiential education.
Janney joined SEE in 2012. She completed SEE’s Experiential Education Academy in 2016, and in 2017, she became a member of the Experiential Education Academy faculty. Janney has taught numerous courses for the academy during the past seven years. During this time, the academy has launched a new curriculum and utilized instructional designers for the creation of the courses.
During Janney’s service (2012-2021) as the associate dean for experiential education, Culver-Stockton College established a strategic plan for excellence in experiential education. Janney worked with faculty to develop seven categories of defined experiential education, implemented experiential courses as part of the general education program, created an approval process for recognizing courses designated as experiential and coordinated training and mentoring of new faculty to educate them on experiential education.
Janney was recognized as the 2021 Society for Experiential Education’s Outstanding Leader in Higher Education.
“When Janney was in a leadership position overseeing experiential learning, she was instrumental in ensuring that Culver-Stockton College became a leader in innovative pedagogy,” C-SC President Lauren Schellenberger said in a press release.
Janney served on the 2023 and 2024 society conference planning committee, including chairing the awards committee in 2023. She will co-chair the Society for Experiential Education’s Strategic Communications Committee and is a member of the finance committee.
