Clark County R-1 Board of Education names administrator from Iberia as next superintendent

KAHOKA, Mo. — The Clark County R-1 School District Board of Education has named Lyndel Whittle as the district’s next superintendent.
Whittle currently serves as superintendent of the Iberia R-V School District, a role he has held for 10 years. He brings 31 years of experience in education, including 18 years in administration and 13 years as a teacher and coach. During his superintendent tenure, Whittle has implemented a variety of initiatives, raised teacher salaries and completed capital projects — all while maintaining steady reserve balances through strategic financial planning. Additionally, he has overseen the implementation of numerous district-wide safety and technology upgrades.
Before joining Iberia, Whittle served as principal in the Dixon R-I School District for three years and in the Montgomery County R-II School District for two years. In Iberia, he renewed the district’s focus on curriculum and instruction to better serve students, resulting in a 12-percentage-point increase in APR in just one year.
“I’m excited for the opportunity to serve the Clark County R-I School District. Clark County is known throughout Missouri for the quality education and school experiences its students receive,” Whittle said in a press release. “It’s my hope that we can continue the positive things already happening here and keep growing and improving as a district. I will work hard to use what I’ve learned in my experiences as an educator and administrator to help the district continue its success.”
Board members worked with the Missouri School Boards’ Association to conduct the search.
Whittle replaces Ritchie Kracht, who was named the superintendent of the Hannibal School District earlier this month. Whittle will officially start his job with the Clark County R-1 School District on July 1.
