Douglass Community Services

HANNIBAL, Mo. — Douglass Community Services recently announced the return of its summer food pogram in Palmyra, designed to ensure that children and youth in the community have continued access to nutritious meals during the summer months.

The program will run from June 23 to Aug. 11 with children receiving a weekly food box containing five meals per child. The primary distribution site will be the Sesquicentennial Building parking lot in Flower City Park, with pickup scheduled every Monday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

To participate, families must enroll each child separately by Friday, June 20. Enrollment ensures that sufficient meals are prepared and distributed to all registered participants.

For added convenience, any boxes not picked up on Monday can be collected at Douglass Community Services’ main office at 711 Grand in Hannibal during regular business hours on Tuesdays from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Enrollment forms should include the following information:

  • Child’s Name
  • Home Address
  • City/ZIP
  • Phone Number
  • Parent/Guardian Name(s)
  • Checkboxes indicating pick-up location and acknowledgment of alternate pick-up option

Forms can be submitted in person at Douglass Community Services or families may call to provide the information by phone.

For more information or to enroll, contact Emily Trevathan, chief operations officer of Douglass Community Services, by calling 573-221-3892

“We are committed to making sure children in our community have what they need to thrive, even when school is out,” Trevathan said in a press release. “This program helps bridge the summer meal gap for families across our service area.”
