Families will have 30 minutes or less to build impromptu snow shelter in Riverview Park on Saturday
HANNIBAL, Mo. — The upcoming winter weather forecast looks perfect for building a fort in the park.
“Frosty Forts” is a family nature program that will begin 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 25, at Riverview Park.
The free program will be led by Gale Rublee and members of the Mississippi Hills Master Naturalists. In a press release, Rublee said, “Can your family build an impromptu shelter in 30 minutes or less using only your hands and what’s on the ground around you? We’ll rate the best forts based on temperature inside, sturdiness, use of found materials and if we think it could weather a brief winter storm.“
Appropriate dress for the outdoors in recommended. Make reservations for nature programs on the Hannibal Parks and Recreation website at https://hannibalparks.recdesk.com/Community/Program
