Hannibal Fire Dept. responds to early morning house fire

HANNIBAL, Mo. — The Hannibal Fire Department responded to a house fire at 1917 Stuart just before 7:00 Monday.

All three HFD stations arrived and incident command advised that heavy smoke and was coming from the basement area of the residence. Crews made an offensive attack and had the fire out within 15 minutes. Crews were on scene for about an hour conducting overhaul and salvage operations. One resident was in the home at the time of the fire and exited the structure safely. 

HFD was assisted by the Marion County Ambulance District, Hannibal Police Department, Hannibal Board of Public Works. 

The home had no working smoke alarms and after a fire investigation by Hannibal Fire Investigators. The fire is being listed as electrical, but accidental in nature.
