HANNIBAL, Mo. – Hannibal-LaGrange University held its commencement ceremony on May 4 and honored two employees for their outstanding service.

Melanie Smith, education division chair, received the Parkway Distinguished Professor Award. Amanda Kohl, a 2023 graduate of HLGU and current guest experience coordinator, received the Immanuel Staff Member of the Year Award.

This year’s commencement address was given by Julie Albee, vice president of Academic Administration at Hannibal-LaGrange University.

In a press release, Albee said, “It has been my joy and privilege to work at Hannibal-LaGrange University for the past 21 years.  When God led our family to Hannibal, I never imagined what exciting adventures were to come.  When you ‘Stop and Consider, Slowly Proceed and then Go For it,’ God opens amazing doors of opportunity to serve Him.  HLGU is a Christ-centered university with a biblical worldview that permeates its classes, chapel, activities, sports, etc.  It is my prayer that God will continue to bless and grow HLGU for His glory in the days, years, decades and centuries ahead.  We serve an amazing God.”
