HANNIBAL, Mo. — Two Hannibal Public School Board members took their oath of office on Thursday afternoon at the Hannibal Board of Education.

Tysa Coleman was sworn in to serve her second term and Ron Greenwell was sworn in to serve his first term. Greenwell replaces former school board member Justin Parker, who served two terms.

Superintendent Susan Johnson said she looks forward to Greenwell’s term, and will also miss Parker’s contribution to the board.

“He has done wonderful service with a lot of great things that have happened over the years. We really appreciate Justin,” Johnson said.

The board also unanimously elected the Hannibal School Board President as Blane Mundle, Vice President J’Nelle Lee, Treasurer Tysa Coleman and Secretary Martha Astorino.

Johnson also updated the board that they have conducted interviews for a new assistant superintendent to replace Shawn Brown, who will resign at the end of the school year.

In other news:

Johnson updated the board regarding the bid received for the school district fiduciary services for the general obligation fund. They had a committee review the bids and the committee recommended they hire Piper Sandler, an investment company based in Minneapolis. The board voted to table the decision until the next regular board meeting on April 17.
