Hannibal Tree Board selects flowering cherry as tree of the month for April
HANNIBAL, Mo. — The Hannibal Tree Board has selected as its tree of the month for April a flowering cherry tree in the yard of Makayla Mann and Cale Logan at 2304 Bird.
The Tree Board established the award to celebrate Hannibal’s urban forest and its stewards. The Tree Board’s mission is to encourage and inspire by example proper planting and tree care in Hannibal.
The city of Hannibal is celebrating this year the designation of Tree City USA for 25 years in recognition of its commitment to urban and community forestry programs.
Tree Board guidelines say the tree must be residential and visible from the street, distinctive with good form and well-cared for and properly pruned with no dead limbs.
