Harvest Outreach Recovery House recipient of $5,000 grant from Riedel Foundation

HANNIBAL, Mo. — The Riedel Foundation recently awarded $5,000 to help Harvest Outreach improve the sober living house for women and children. The money will provide kitchen appliances and security systems.
In a press release, Pastor Larry Hinds, director of Harvest Outreach, said, “We want to support women in their recovery by providing a safe and nurturing environment. That helps us make a lasting, positive impact in the lives of women and their families.”
Harvest Outreach recently expanded its services so the sober living house can accommodate the children of women who are working on sobriety. The house also welcomes pregnant women, making sure they get the services they need.
Harvest Outreach offers a holistic, faith-based approach to food insecurity and addiction recovery. Hinds says the idea is to integrate compassionate outreach with practical support, empowering individuals to embrace a fresh start and a restored life.
The Riedel Foundation has worked with Harvest Outreach to fund several projects and programs, such as the Loaves and Fishes Program, which provides a hot dinner every weeknight and meal boxes for the weekends. A $7,150 grant last December helped stock the food pantry.
“Harvest Outreach is such a blessing to the Hannibal community,” Riedel administrator Sarah Deien said. “They don’t just put a band aid on a problem. They feed the hungry and house the addicts, but they also teach them skills to live successfully.”
Established in 2000, the Riedel Foundation supports nonprofit organizations serving the residents of Hannibal.
