HLGU communication students win multiple awards in recent competition

HANNIBAL, Mo. — A virtual awards ceremony was held Oct. 12 for The Baptist Communicators Association Student Awards Competition. All entries in the competition must have been produced or published from January 2022 through May 2023.

A record-setting 98 entries were submitted by students from six Baptist universities in this year’s competition. Participating schools were Samford University, Union University, Baylor University, California Baptist University, University of Mobile and Hannibal-LaGrange University. 

Christy Jung, assistant professor of communication studies, submitted three of her students’ pieces to the competition. Each of the three pieces were chosen as first place winners in their respective categories.

In the Audio: Broadcast/Podcast Individual Episode category, the HLGU communication studies team earned first place for their Israel Podcast.

In the Video: Storytelling 1-3 Minutes category, Cole Arndorfer and Jace Lobner were awarded first place for Hook.

In the Video: Promotion 1-3 Minutes category, Natalia Cuesta and Jace Lobner received first place for My HLGU Story.
