Informational meeting for upcoming Central Park Farmers Market to be held Wednesday
HANNIBAL, Mo. — A meeting for vendors interested in participating in the upcoming Central Park Farmers Market will be at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 6, at Admiral Coontz Recreation Center.
Plans for the upcoming season will be discussed. The local health inspector and scale inspector will be in attendance. Rules and regulations will be outlined, and there will be an open forum for questions and ideas.
Opening day for the Central Park Farmers Market will be Saturday, April 27, from 7:30 a.m. to noon and continue at the same time on Saturdays through Saturday, Oct. 26. Beginning in June, the market will also be open from 3 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday night.
The market plays a role as a community gathering place that offers products from the area. The market offers consumers healthy and affordable alternatives to a typical supermarket experience.
About 30 vendors participated in the Farmers Market each week last year. Items available last year were:

- mushrooms

- goat’s milk soap

- flowers
- herbs
- jam
- jelly
- bread
Several of the vendors are eligible to take Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program benefits for payment through a program with Douglass Community Services.
