HANNIBAL, Mo. — Java Jive in historic downtown Hannibal is celebrating 25 years of serving coffee, community and connection with a block party from 7 to 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, April 26.

Owner Katy Welch invites friends, neighbors, and visitors to join the festivities on the 200 block of Main, which will be closed to traffic for the celebration.

The day kicks off with “Coffee with the Community” from 8 to 10 a.m. Tables will line the center of the street for guests to enjoy free brewed coffee and treats provided by Kohl Wholesale, creating space for connection and conversation.

Java Jive regulars will gather for a group photo at 10:30 a.m., followed by a staff reunion photo at 11 a.m.

The community can enjoy “Cones for Cans” from 1 to 3 p.m. Guests will receive free ice cream in exchange for canned or dry food donations, which will benefit a local food pantry.

The celebration continues into the night, with free keepsake cups given with any large drink purchase from 3 to 8 p.m.

Throughout the day, guests can enjoy:

  • Live music by local performers on the sidewalk
  • Prize drawings
  • Free shopping totes with purchase

Founded in April 2000, Java Jive has grown from a cozy coffee shop into a \ two-storefront space offering a full deli menu, house-made baked goods and desserts, hand-dipped ice cream, unique gifts and a full coffee and specialty drink menu.

“This isn’t just about coffee,” Welch said in a press release. “It’s about connection. Java Jive has always been a place where people come together — friends, students, travelers and families. We can’t wait to celebrate this milestone with the community that’s made it all possible.”
