LA GRANGE, Mo. – A LaGrange man was arrested Monday for an attempted robbery of Town & Country Bank, 110 S. Main.

NECOMM 911 notified the LaGrange Police Department at approximately 1:13 p.m. Monday, Jan. 8, about a hold-up alarm at the bank. An officer at the police department, which is just around the corner from the bank, was leaving to respond to the alarm and encountered Jason Edward Day, 49, of LaGrange, who was entering the police department lobby.

The officer observed cash visibly stuffed into Day’s pockets. He was identified as being involved in the incident and taken into custody. Additional officers responded to the bank and determined the person being held at the police station was the only suspect involved.

The bank remained closed for the rest of the business day while the scene was processed.

Day was transported to the Clark County Jail in Kahoka. The Missouri State Highway Patrol, Lewis County Sheriff’s Office and Canton Police Department assisted with the response. The Federal Bureau of Investigation has been notified of the incident as well.
