Bridge rehabilitation project on Route 16 in Lewis County set to begin Monday

Missouri-Department-of-Transportation

HANNIBAL, Mo. — Route 16 in Lewis County is scheduled to close on Monday, July 24, as work begins on the bridge rehabilitation project located over U.S. Route 61, 0.7 mile north of Route P at Canton.

A signed detour will be in place to route traffic around the bridge closure. All entrance and exit ramps at the interchange will remain open during the bridge closure. The project is scheduled to be completed by mid-September.

Included in this contract is an additional bridge rehabilitation project on Route P over Route 61, seven-tenths of a mile south of Route 16 near Canton. This bridge project is scheduled to begin immediately following the Route 16 bridge completion.

Emery Sapp and Sons, Inc., was awarded the contract earlier this year in the amount of $1,360,618.33. The bridges are expected to be completed and re-open by late October.
