Former mathematics professor donates telescope to Culver-Stockton
CANTON, Mo. — Culver-Stockton College recently received the donation of a model 2080 Meade 8-foot Schmidt-Cassegrain telescope from emeritus faculty member Fred Helsabeck. This telescope is the latest addition of equipment that will be utilized to educate C-SC students in the field of astronomy.
Robert Sadler, professor of physical sciences, will be the primary instructor utilizing this gift in his courses.
“The large telescope is big and complex enough to provide detailed viewing of many sky objects,” he said in a press release.
Helsabeck was a faculty member in the mathematics department, providing 16 years of service to the college. He retired in 2007.
