First child for Hannibal couple also first child of 2022 at Hannibal Regional Hospital

HANNIBAL, Mo. — Amber Larenson and Jordan Penrose celebrated the New Year with the birth of their daughter, Evren Alex Penrose, at 3:10 p.m. Saturday at Hannibal Regional Hospital. She is their first child.

With an expected due date of Jan. 2, the couple knew it was a possibility that their child would be the New Year’s Baby at Hannibal Regional. When Amber’s induction was set for Jan. 1, Jordan was certain Evren would be first. However, with numerous other babies also due around that time, Amber was a bit more skeptical.

Hannibal Regional presents its New Year’s babies with gift baskets full of items, and Hannibal LaGrange University donates a $2,000 scholarship. 

“It’s always an exciting time around the new year to see which baby comes first,” said Diane Bibb, director of women’s care at Hannibal Regional. “This is (Amber and Jordan’s) first child, so that makes it even more special for them. We are all so happy for their new family.”
