Hannibal-LaGrange receives gift of 2,000 bushels of grain from farming couple in Northeast Missouri

HANNIBAL, Mo. — Soon after the inception of the Hannibal-LaGrange University agribusiness program, the university began to promote the possibility of giving grain to help support university programs through the Gifts of Grain initiative. HLGU recently received its first gift of 2,000 bushels of corn.

The gift was given by a farming couple in northeast Missouri who have been generous supporters for many years. The couple delivered the corn to Ursa Farmers Co-Op in May, gifting it to HLGU. The grain was then sold, netting nearly $16,000 to go toward the current financial needs at Hannibal-LaGrange.

“This is wonderful news and a true shot in the arm for our future. Praise God for His daily bread in a truly literal sense!” HLGU transitional president Rodney Harrison said in a press release.
