Hannibal Regional Medical Group adds surgeon

HANNIBAL, Mo. — Hannibal Regional Medical Group recently hired Dr. Richie Goriparthi, who earned his medical degree from Zaporozhye State Medical University in Ukraine. 

Goriparthi earned his master’s in surgical skills and sciences from the University of London in the United Kingdom. He later graduated from general surgery residency training at Brown University in Rhode Island and completed fellowship training in bariatric and robotic surgery at Jefferson Abington Hospital, Thomas Jefferson University in Pennsylvania.

“Surgery is a very rewarding field where we get both mentally and physically engaged,” Goriparthi said. “The bond between a patient and the surgeon is very special that is not seen in any other specialty. The trust given to us by the patients is very grounding. With all that said, there is no other field in medicine that gives me that immense satisfaction as the field of surgery.

“Most of the time, when patients come to see me, they have tried and failed several other treatments. It is very gratifying to treat and see their quality of life improve. I try to be patient and listen to all the small details my patients provide and figure out what’s their core problem. I also make it a priority that the patient has an in-depth understanding of their condition as well.”
