Summer meals program in Hannibal needs volunteers

Douglass-Community-Services

HANNIBAL, Mo. — Douglass Community Services of Hannibal is seeking volunteers to assist with its summer meals program beginning June 6.

The program helps feed young people age 18 and under when school is not in session, according to community outreach initiatives director LeAndra Bridgeman. Adult volunteers are needed to distribute the meals at community sites, which include parks and other public spaces.

Pre-made meals are picked up at Douglass’ Grand Avenue location, distributed to the assigned site, and coolers are returned to the Douglass center. A one-hour USDA training is required. Volunteers can work a day, a week, a month or the entire summer.

For more information, contact Harold Smith at rsvp@douglassonline.org or 573-221-3892 or Bridgeman at 573-221-3892.
