HANNIBAL, Mo. — The Hannibal Early Bird Kiwanis club recently donated $800 to the Mississippi Valley State School to support student activities,

Connie Billings, building administrator for the Mississippi Valley State School, recently attended an Early Bird Kiwanis Club meeting and gave the club an update on the various activities of the school for this past year. The school had 26 students enrolled this year. These students are physically and mentally handicapped and are allowed to attend this school starting at age 5 through age 21.

The Hannibal Early Bird Kiwanis Club provides financial support to the school and also visits twice a year — once during Christmas time with special gifts for each child, and also at Easter when they provide each student with a stuffed animal.

The club meets weekly at 7 a.m. at the Hannibal Holiday Inn and Express Suites on Shinn Lane.  All prospective members interested in joining the club may visit at any time as a guest of the club and receive information on club membership.
