Northeast Missouri Humane Society’s annual ‘Quarter Madness’ returns Thursday
HANNIBAL, Mo. — The Northeast Missouri Humane Society will be the host of its annual Quarter Madness at the American Legion on Thursday, May 18. Doors for the event will open at 5:30 p.m.
Quarter Madness is a bidding event. To start, each item is displayed for the guests to see. The auctioneer gives a brief description, retail value and how many quarters are required for a bid. Guests bid with their quarters and hold up their numbered paddle. The auctioneer draws a numbered chip until it matches a bidder’s paddle.
The event will have a 50/50 raffle, silent auction, food and drink and more. Attendees are encouraged to bring a supply of quarters to the event. Quarters will be available for exchange.
In a press release, Carrie Fogle, board of directors president at the Humane Society, said, “We have been doing this fundraiser for more than seven years and have raised anywhere from $3,500 to $5,000 from this event.”
