Risk assessment/management, crisis communication strategies to be addressed during Tuesday webinar

HANNIBAL, Mo. — Rhonda Travers, president and founder of Travers Training and Consulting, and Amy Vaughn, president and CEO of Be The Change For Your Community, LLC, are offering a 90-minute webinar designed to offer nonprofits high quality training on how to prepare for the unexpected, specifically related to volunteer risk assessment/management and crisis communication strategies should a crisis ever occur within an organization.

Travers and Vaughn have invited Nicole Peternel, a crisis communications expert, to join in a Q and A session during the event.

Peternel, founder and CEO of Rein Communications, has worked with one of the largest university hospitals in Chicago to identify key messaging for their NICU as well as produce crisis communications strategy and training for one of the largest healthcare systems in the United States.

In her more than 20-year career, Paternel has overseen crisis preparedness and response for organizations like the NFL, retail and shopping centers, clergy abuse survivors and the most prominent mortgage company in the U.S.

During the pandemic, Paternel represented a senior community that was deemed the “COVID hotspot of the United States.” She has served as a spokesperson for institutions and organizations as they have experienced the unimaginable, from shootings and assault allegations to data breaches and acts of malevolence.  

With more than 60 years of combined management, leadership and nonprofit experience, both Vaughn and Travers are ready to proactively train nonprofits to prepare for possible risks and develop the needed tools and strategies ahead of time in order to avoid and/or be prepared should crisis situations ever occur.
