‘Rule Out Cancer Copier Bash’ to raise money for local cancer charities on Friday

Business Centre and Golden Ruler

HANNIBAL, Mo. – The Business Centre of Quincy and the Golden Ruler, locally owned office and sign supplies stores, will have their third annual “Rule Out Cancer Copier Bash” event from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday at 4500C Paris Gravel Road in Hannibal in coordination with Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Food and beverage will be available, along with raffle tickets for prizes.

More than 280,000 people will receive a diagnosis of invasive breast cancer within the United States this year, according to the National Breast Cancer Foundation. More than 43,000 women are estimated to die from breast cancer in the United States.

“It is our hope that through awareness in events such as this, we’ll be able to encourage someone to get a screening and catch things early,” business owner Rex Hicks said. “We also are grateful for the opportunity to support patients and their caregivers already going through this battle,” Hicks added.

Proceeds will be donated to Val’s Pals, Sarah’s Place and Pinkie Pals. These local charities provide vital resources to patients and caretakers, such as caregiver totes, monetary assistance and fuel cards to support travel to and from cancer treatments.

During the “Copier Bash” event, visitors can donate to the charities, receive lunch and have a chance to swing a sledgehammer at a pink-colored copy machine. Full safety equipment will be provided during the activity. A raffle also will be held, with the grand prize a four-sided vehicle wrap provided by The Golden Ruler (estimated value $3,000). Terms apply.

Raffle tickets are available in the stores or by calling (573) 221-1600. Tickets are $10 each or $25 for a set of three. Tickets may be purchased at the event. The winner does not need to be present to win.
