Tuia joins internal medicine team at Hannibal Regional
HANNIBAL, Mo. — Dr. JessicaAnn Tuia has joined the internal medicine team at Hannibal Regional Medical Group.
Tuia earned her medical degree from A.T. Still University in Kirksville and completed her residency at Northeast Regional Medical Center in Kirksville.
Tuia’s father served in the military, and her mother is a registered nurse. She says serving others is the most rewarding part of being a physician.
“(My parents) always emphasized service to others,” she said. “Medicine is a special field where we often see people when they are sick, then have the privilege of contributing to their journey back to wellness.”
Tuia prioritizes developing relationships with her patients so they work as a team to accomplish wellness goals.
“Through active listening and education, we will have discussions about the most up-to-date recommendations,” she said. “Ultimately though, it is up to the patient on how they would like to proceed. Whatever their decision, I will do my best to support them.”
Tuia chose outpatient primary care for her profession because it is “the first line of defense” in keeping people happy and healthy. She chose to join the Hannibal Regional staff because of its dedication to patient care, professionalism, camaraderie and overall positive atmosphere.
