Missouri State Highway Patrol promotes McGivney to sergeant in Troop B

MACON, Mo. — Capt. Erik A. Gottman, commanding officer of Missouri State Highway Patrol Troop B in Macon, recently announced Cpl. Kyle V. McGivney is being promoted to the rank of sergeant on July 1. He will be the designated zone commander of Zone 8, Marion and Ralls counties.

McGivney was appointed to the patrol on Jan. 16, 2013. After graduating from the patrol academy, he was assigned to Troop B, Zone, 7, Knox and Lewis counties. On Aug. 1, 2018, McGivney was promoted to the rank of corporal and designated the assistant zone commander of Zone 9, Marion and Ralls counties. On June 1, 2020, McGivney transferred to Zone 7, Knox and Lewis counties, as the assistant zone supervisor.

McGivney is a native of Apple River, Ill., and graduated from Warren High School in Warren, Ill. He holds a bachelor’s degree in business management/health from Luther College in Decorah, Iowa.
