Marion County Walk for Life on April 20 to benefit Options for Women Pregnancy Resource Center
HANNIBAL, Mo. — Options for Women will hold its second Marion County Walk For Life and pancake and sausage breakfast on Saturday, April 20, on the Hannibal-LaGrange University Campus, 2800 Palmyra Road.
Breakfast will be provided by the Hannibal Knights of Columbus and served at the HLGU Carroll Science Center from 8 to 11 a.m. Free-will donations will be accepted for the breakfast. It’s open to anyone, even if not planning to take part in the walk itself.
Walk registration and a special warm-up session will begin at 8:30 a.m. with the walk beginning at 9 a.m. Registration and donations are being accepted at https://secure.fundeasy.com/ministrysync/event/?e=26993.
Participants are challenged to set individual goals of at least $150, and that money can be raised through online pledges and donations. People raising $150 or more will receive a free t-shirt. T-shirts may be bought at the event for $20.
Individuals register online, but can affiliate themselves on the day of the event with a group or “team” for prizes.” Prizes will be awarded to the team raising the most money, team with most members present the day of the event and the individual raising the most money.
Sponsors are the Hannibal Knights of Columbus, State Sen. Cindy O’Laughlin, Iva’s Printing Co., LS Tax Services, Spike and Theresa Ehrhardt and WGCA-FM.
Proceeds from the event (both breakfast and walk) will go to support the Options for Women Pregnancy Resource Center, 7A Northport Plaza.
Options for Women opened in Bowling Green in 2016, and the Hannibal office opened in the fall of 2022. The organization serves pregnant women and young mothers and fathers across northeast Missouri. Services provided include medical grade pregnancy tests, ultrasounds and life coaching — all confidential and at no cost to the individual. Pregnancy, parenting and life skills classes are offered free at the center and online with incentives for participation.
Options for Women also offers referrals for medical help and temporary housing for expectant mothers in need, prenatal vitamins, coaching and support for those grieving an abortion or miscarriage, adoption referrals, information on abortion and abortion pill reversal, a mentoring program for young men and ongoing support and encouragement to young parents.
