MoDOT changing start date to April 8 for bridge replacement project over Missouri Route 79

Missouri-Department-of-Transportation

HANNIBAL, Mo. — Construction progresses on the bridge replacement project on Missouri Route 79 over Bear Creek, the Norfolk Southern Railroad and Warren Barrett Drive.

This project is fourth-tenths of a mile north of Route T in Hannibal, Marion County. A scheduled closure of Missouri 79 will start the morning of April 8 at this location.  The route will remain closed during construction of the new bridge, scheduled to be completed by early October.

Signs and message boards will be in place to direct motorists around the work zone over a signed detour that includes I-72, U.S. 61, Ralls County Routes V and N, and Missouri 79. The Sodalis Nature Trail, within the project limits, will remain closed until the project is completed.

KCI Construction Company was awarded the contract last year in the amount of $12.4 million.
