HANNIBAL, Mo. — Hannibal Parks and Recreation is offering “Twilight Transformations,” a night hike through Sodalis Nature Preserve, at 7 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 9.

Nature educator Gale Rublee, who leads the Parks and Recreation nature programs, said in a press release, “Let’s explore nature’s nocturnal adaptations. Some flowers bloom at night to attract moths, and lots of animals prefer to become more active as it gets dark. Humans adjust to less light by enhancing our ‘night-time’ vision and other senses.”

Participants should meet at the Sodalis Nature Preserve on Ely Street in the parking lot. The program lasts about two hours and covers a two-mile paved loop with a steep incline. Participants have the option to return sooner.

Nature programs are free but must be reserved online at www.hannibalparks.org.
