HANNIBAL, Mo. — The boat ramp and marina at Nipper Park will be closed for two weeks starting Monday, Oct. 7, to enable Hannibal Parks and Recreation personnel to dredge without interruption.

Boats docked in marina slips should be taken out by 8 a.m. Monday. Boaters can use the marina ramp each evening once dredging is completed for the day. The length of closure will depend on weather and complications.

HPR purchased a Mud Cat MC 115D dredge from Ellicott Dredge Technologies two years ago. The dredge vacuums up the unwanted sediment and debris and pumps it to a dredge pit south of the marina. The sediment becomes fill soil that can be recycled throughout the park system.
