HANNIBAL, Mo. — The Salvation Army of Hannibal kicked off the holiday season with its annual Red Kettle Christmas Campaign Kick-Off event on Wednesday, Nov. 20, at The Rialto.

The honorary chairs for the 2024 Christmas Campaign are Jen and Shad Terrill and Shelby and Kassondra Terrill, owners of the Coffee Barn in Hannibal. The campaign’s goal has been set at $125,000, which will support The Salvation Army’s ongoing mission to assist individuals and families in need across Marion, Ralls, Lewis, Monroe and Shelby counties.

“We know a strong community is the backbone of a successful small business,” Jen Terrill said in a press release. “Having invested in several small businesses ourselves, we’re excited for the opportunity to give back to our community.”

Kassondra Terrill added, “With the help of friends, family and the community, we are hopeful we can come together to not only meet but exceed this year’s goal for The Salvation Army.”

The funds raised during the Tree of Lights Campaign support critical programs and services that provide a “hand up” to neighbors in need. Last year, The Salvation Army of Hannibal made a significant impact:

  • 4,252 individuals received assistance
  • 1,987 food boxes were distributed
  • 25 families received utility assistance
  • 23 families received rent assistance
  • 507 items of clothing were provided

During the 2023 Christmas season alone:

  • 788 families received Christmas food boxes
  • 1,519 children received toys through a partnership with Toys for Tots of Northeast Missouri
