President of Mizzou Board of Curators to speak at annual alumni and student BBQ on Saturday in Palmyra

PALMYRA, Mo. — Robin Wenneker, president of the University of Missouri Board of Curators, will be the featured speaker at the annual Student Send Off and BBQ to be held by the Great River Tigers chapter of the Mizzou Alumni Association on Saturday, July 20.

A social hour will begin at 5 p.m. at Jackson Park Golf Course with dinner served at 6:30 p.m. Cost is $10 per person for a pork loin dinner. Mizzou students receive a free ticket for themselves and one guest for the barbecue. Donors of $100 or more will be admitted free to the BBQ. Al Kennett, chairman of the summer event, says the event raises scholarship funds for current and future MU students.

Robin Wenneker of Columbia, was appointed to the Board of Curators in 2020 by Gov. Mike Parson. Wenneker is the managing partner of the Wenneker family business, past president of the Mizzou Alumni Association and a past member of the Missouri Coordinating Board of Higher Education.

At the event, alumni will announce the names of 14 $1,000 scholarship winners. A drawing for 15 $500 scholarships will be held from students who are present at the event. A raffle for a pair of tickets and parking pass to the Tigers’ homecoming football game vs. Auburn on Oct. 19 will be held.

Great River Tigers is the local chapter of the Mizzou Alumni Association and serves alumni in northeast Missouri and west central Illinois.
