Resurfacing work scheduled in Marion and Lewis counties beginning Monday

Missouri-Department-of-Transportation

HANNIBAL, Mo. — As early as the week of June 23, resurfacing work is scheduled to begin in Marion and Lewis counties. Contractor crews will start on Route F in Marion County, from Route E at Woodland to 0.2 mile west of U.S. Route 61 near Palmyra.

Once complete, crews will shift to the following routes: Marion County, Route P, from Route A to the end of state maintenance, and Lewis County, Route Y, from Route K to Missouri Route 16 near Monticello

Traffic will be reduced to one lane with a 10-foot width restriction at the location where crews are actively working. Flaggers and a pilot car will be utilized for traffic control to guide traffic through the work zone. All work is weather dependent and schedules are subject to change.

The $2.9M contract was awarded last year to Above and Below Contracting, LLC of Festus. All work is expected to be completed by Nov. 1.

These resurfacing projects are included as part of the Governor’s Rural Road program. With the governor’s signing of the fiscal year 2025 budget, an additional $100 million in general revenue is available for Missouri’s low-volume rural roads. Using asset management data, the Missouri Department of Transportation has identified 1,985 lane miles of low-volume roads to receive treatments to improve road conditions. The roads are being bundled into 19 contracts across the state. For more information on the governor’s rural roads program, visit modot.org.
