Scheduled closure of Missouri Route 79 in Hannibal begins April 1 as work on new bridge begins

Missouri-Department-of-Transportation

HANNIBAL, Mo. — Construction progresses on the bridge replacement project on Missouri Route 79, over Bear Creek, the Norfolk Southern Railroad and Warren Barrett Drive. This project is four-tenths of a mile north of Route T in Hannibal.

Starting April 1, there will be a scheduled closure of Route 79 at this location. The route will remain closed during construction of the new bridge, scheduled to be completed by early October.

Signs and message boards will be in place to direct motorists around the work zone over a signed detour that includes I-72, U.S. Route 61, Ralls County Route V and N, and Route 79. Additionally, the Sodalis Nature Trail, within the project limits, will remain closed until the project is completed.

KCI Construction Company was awarded the contract last year for the amount of $12.4 million.
